The Arriaga Theatre, in conjunction with the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra –BOS–, presents a performance by the National Dance Company, accompanied by the Orchestra.
The National Dance Company presents “Romeo and Juliet”, a ballet whose score is by Sergei Prokofiev and choreography is by Goyo Montero, current director of the Nüremberg Ballet and winner of the National Dance Award 2011.
Through “Romeo and Juliet”, the choreographer attempts to get closer to the universal play by William Shakespeare from a personal perspective, going into the psychological side of the characters. Limiting himself to the plot, Montero highlights the force of emotions, combining the dynamics of Prokofiev’s score with the expressiveness and passion of the ballet dancers. He uses elegance, sadness and a fighting spirit to tell us this love tragedy in an extremely vivid and sensual way.
